In Bundaberg, the government knew best,
They released some toads, bloody pests!
Reginald Mungomery, answered the call,
Of toads that came, and would appal.
Back in the days of thirty-five,
They came to fix, some bugs that thrived,
The beetles in the cane, oh, they’d slay,
But beetles laughed, you’ll rue the day.
Instead, these toads, with skin so vile,
Spread far and wide, mile by mile,
No predator alive could stem the tide,
Quolls, snakes, and goannas were left aside.
But Bundaberg, She’s not one to shirk,
All gathered ’round, began to work,
With nets and buckets, strong and true,
Toad-busting parties, with a boomerang or two.
They set up zones, toad-free and grand,
And taught the young to lend a hand,
Go spot those toads and send them packing,
We’re Queenslanders here, so stop your yacking.
Though tough as boots, these toads may be,
In Bundaberg, we’ll one day be free,
With Aussie spirit, heart and pride,
We’ll send those buggers on a wild ride.
So here’s to Bundaberg, brave and true,
From toads and troubles, we’ve had a few,
With Banjo’s spirit, clear and bright,
We’ll keep our land, with all our might.
