On a beautiful sunny Saturday, a flower bloomed and men, women and children from all around attended to see.
Well, it was several flowers and these flowers are the pride and joy of the Childers Orchid Society.
For the younger readers out there, the main purpose of an Orchid Society is to assist Governments in preventing the destruction of our native flora and to conserve it by cultivation. This is done by raising awareness through events like the Orchid Show.
On Saturday, the CHUGS, aka Childers Ukulele Group, played spirited melodies for the flowers and the crowds as they swept in.
A gold coin entry got you a raffle ticket at the door (which the Chitchat did not win, sadly) and a light beverage and snack to fill the belly. Such relaxing vibes to pull up a chair and breathe in the lightly scented ambience. The event was generously sponsored by more than 46 local businesses.
Congratulations to all of the winners, and a huge thank you to the volunteers and members of the orchard society, a huge success.
