Woodgate Beach was abuzz with excitement as anglers from across Queensland converged for the annual Woodgate Beach Fishing Competition. This three-day event drew plenty of participants, all eager to showcase their fishing skills in one of the region’s most picturesque coastal settings.
DAY 1 HIGHLIGHTS
The competition kicked off bright and early on Day 1 with a live radio broadcast from Triple M, setting the tone for an exciting weekend. The day’s festivities continued with a lucky door prize draw at 5:30 PM, providing an extra thrill for attendees. Following this, the Friday Night Pub Raffles and live music saw the night out.
DAY 2 HIGHLIGHTS
The second day of competition kicked off at 8:00 AM with a Rod Repair Master Class at the Woodgate Beach Hotel, offering participants valuable tips and techniques to maintain their gear. The Comp Precinct opened at 9:00 AM and the Kids Fishing Clinic began teaching young participants essential fishing techniques.
The afternoon was filled with more fun as the popular Fish Cart Races kicked off with laughter and cheering from families.
DAY 3 HIGHLIGHTS
The final day of the competition started bright and early with another Rod Repair Master Class at the Woodgate Beach Hotel. The much-anticipated Best Dressed Teams event, where participants showcased their creativity and coordinated outfits was a highlight.
Kids’ Activities Galore
This year, the competition placed a special emphasis on family-friendly activities, ensuring that kids had a fantastic time throughout the event. From the Fish Cart Races to the Kids Fishing Clinic, young participants were engaged and entertained, learning valuable skills in a fun environment. Every young cadet received a Kids Gift Bag, thanks to the generosity of local sponsors Madkeen and Bob’s Tyres.
