About Chitchat
CHITCHAT Newspaper Prints 5000+ papers and delivers to more than 150 locations across Bundaberg, Childers, woodgate & More.
Our Origin
The CHITCHAT Newspaper has grown from humble beginnings. Creator Debbie Williamson-Gleich started the ‘Childers CHITCHAT’ in the late 90’s as a way to keep the local communities of Childers and Woodgate connected.
What once started out as an A4 booklet, now a mighty A3 tabloid, it remains today offering community news and events from around the Wide Bay – Burnett region.
Our Vision
To remain as the only monthly free-to-read newspaper across Bundaberg and the Wide Bay region. Proudly fuelled by the support of local businesses and shared across farms, cafés, waiting rooms, and kitchen tables.
We are fiercely loyal to our community roots, giving the butcher, the baker, and the bowls club a voice. Beyond the headlines, we seek out the stories you may not see elsewhere — stories that reflect real life, make you ask real questions, and remind you that community newspapers can still tell the truth, even when it ruffles feathers.
Guided by faith, we seek to preserve good values, adding richness to community life, and promoting truth with integrity. Our purpose is to shine a steady light, to uplift and make a difference.
We value kindness, fairness, and supporting others, and we’re committed to keeping our pages filled with stories that stirr and connect. Together with local expertise, we aim to inform, celebrate, and nurture community spirit.
And as we grow in print and online — our promise is to stay independent, useful, entertaining, and unapologetically local.

“I want to share how much I appreciate the ChitChat for supporting local voices and valuable community content. As the writer of the Eat Yourself Beautiful column, I want to emphasize that I don’t run a business and receive no personal gain from my writing – my goal is simply to share my knowledge of practical, evidence-based nutrition and wellness advice for the educational benefit of our community. Thank you for giving space to content that supports informed, healthy living”
“Loved reading your NEWSPAPER. So interesting and better than the Couriermail.“
“Woodgate Beach Community Bus relies upon Chit Chat Newspaper to inform the broader community about our fundraising efforts and to also ensure people know when our bus is running and to what destinations. They are a wonderful support to our service and so very easy to work alongside.“
