Best of Queensland competition

Wide Bay and Fraser Coast make waves in this year’s Best of Queensland competition, with local favourites taking top spots and earning state-wide acclaim.

The 2025 Best of Queensland competition has wrapped up, and the Burnett, Wide Bay, and Fraser Coast regions have every reason to celebrate. With a strong showing across multiple categories, the region proved once again why it remains one of the state’s most beloved travel and food destinations.

Sweet Success for Local Ice Cream Artisans

In a hotly contested battle for the title of Queensland’s Best Ice Cream, Hervey Bay’s Rad Rolled Ice Cream emerged victorious, delighting taste buds and winning hearts.

This local favourite took the top honour ahead of two strong contenders: Tinaberries, a charming strawberry farm and ice cream haven in the Burnett region, and 1770 Gelato Co in the coastal paradise of Agnes Water. The recognition of all three highlights the region’s flair for crafting delicious, locally-inspired treats.

Big Icons, Big Pride

Bundaberg’s iconic Bundaberg Rum Bottle was in the running for Queensland’s Best Big Thing, a nostalgic and quirky category celebrating Australia’s love of oversized attractions. While the title ultimately went to the ever-popular Big Mango in Bowen, the Bundy Bottle’s nomination is a testament to its place in the hearts of Queenslanders and tourists alike.

Food & Brew Excellence Recognised

In the food scene, Migaloos Seafood and Ice Creamery in Hervey Bay snagged a finalist spot of Best Fish and Chips in Queensland, impressing voters with their consistently fresh offerings and stunning coastal views.

Meanwhile, Cloud129 in Maryborough made a name for itself in the caffeine stakes, a runner up for the title of Best Coffee in Queensland. Known for its passionate baristas and dedication to the perfect brew, the café has built a loyal following and now enjoys well-earned statewide recognition.

A Region to Be Proud Of

The success of the Wide Bay- Burnett, and Fraser Coast in the Best of Queensland competition is a resounding affirmation of the region’s growing reputation for culinary excellence, iconic attractions, and welcoming communities.

Whether it’s indulging in artisanal ice cream, enjoying the catch of the day by the bay, or sipping a perfectly roasted coffee in a heritage town, the region offers a slice of the best Queensland has to offer.
