Let’s talk essential fatty acids (EFAs) – because your skin is feeling the winter weather.
If you’ve noticed your skin getting tight, flaky, or redder than your favourite winter wine, it’s time to show it some love from the sk’inside out. Omega-3s. These brilliant little fats (found in oily fish like salmon & sardines, avocado, chia seeds, walnuts & flax) are essential – meaning your body can’t make them, but your skin, and every other cell in your entire body, definitely needs them. Omega-3s help lock in moisture, strengthen your skin barrier, reduce inflammation, and calm down winter flare-ups like eczema, rosacea &/or adult acne.
Translation?
Fewer dry patches, smoother, glowier, happier skin.
Bonus: they’re also amazing for hormonal imbalances, cellular dysfunction, brain fog, cognitive issues, joint pain, and mood swings, too.
Winning!
Not a fan of fish? No stress – plant-based oils, such as olive oil, coconut oil & avodaco oil, and high-quality supplements can give you that same healthful glow factor. Just look for “EPA & DHA” on the label, buy organic and aim for consistency.
Pro tip: add at least one component of fatty acid rich-foods to each meal – your cholesterol will not increase, as long as you are eating from the Beauty Foods list of EFAs instead of the Ugly Foods list. Also combine EFAs with Vitamin E-rich foods (like kiwi, hazelnuts, almonds) to really get those skin benefits glowing.
So if your skin’s screaming SOS already this season, feed it the fats it loves and needs. Your face – and your whole body – will thank you. Especially when the seasonal August winds arrive & your skin is left, mostly, unscathed.
BTW: Something exciting is coming soon … I’m putting the final touches on the new Skin Fit™ Teen Acne Protocol.
