Why your skin microbiome matters

Your skin isn’t just about a pretty face – it’s alive with trillions of tiny “skin buddies” working hard to keep things balanced, protected, and glowing.

Just like your gut has its friendly “gut buddies,” your skin has its own community of beneficial bacteria that act as its personal defence team. Together, they form part of what’s known as the gut–skin axis , a fascinating two-way conversation between what’s happening inside your body and what shows up on your skin.

When your gut microbiome is thriving (hello, happy gut buddies!), it helps calm inflammation, supports your immune system, and keeps your skin barrier strong.

But when your gut is upset — think processed foods, stress, antibiotics or lack of sleep — it can trigger breakouts, dullness, redness or flare-ups on the surface.

So, feeding your gut the good stuff (fibre, colourful plants, fermented foods, plenty of water) is just as important as what you put on your face.

A balanced gut means a balanced skin barrier — and when your gut buddies and skin buddies are in sync, that’s when your true glow shows.

Beautiful skin starts within — so don’t forget to nourish your inside crew!

Until next month dear Reader,
Yours in skin, health & beauty.
