Is Chocolate to blame for breakouts, blemishes &/or acne?

With Valentine’s Day in our recent past and Easter in our not-too-distant future, it’s time to unwrap the common myth and discover …

What impact does deliciously delightful and decadent chocolate really have on your skin appearance & health?

Fact: Cocoa is not to blame for breakouts or skin problems!

If not the chocolate, what then?
The culprit is what is mixed with the cocoa… sugar, trans-fats & milk.

Refined sugars denatured trans-fats, and low-quality milks/milk powders simultaneously triggers a hormonal and inflammatory response, causing the sebum (oil) to become thickened, which in turn allows for a proliferation of opportunistic bacteria to hold a rave party on your skin …

it’s the perfect environment for breakouts.

Also remember, we women are hormonal beings.

Generally, our cravings and overindulgences for sweeties are at its highest when our testosterone levels are at a peak during our moon’th cycle.

You are only human, and who can resist a chocy or two.

Adhering to a healthy, nutrient-dense diet of leafy greens, fruits and vegetables in season, grass fed meats, free range poultry, Omega 3’s (nuts & seeds), and drinking heaps of fresh filtered water will ensure a healthy, beautiful complexion… and if your sweet tooth gets the better of you occasionally, then that is OK!

Because life is sweeter with chocolate, just make it dark.

Until next month.
