Local Photographer Kimberley May Turns Fleeting Moments into Timeless Memories

Kimberley’s approach is all about natural, unposed moments. No stiff smiles or choreographed poses—just families being themselves. “We’ll embrace play, exploration, and connection,” she says. “Forget the camera and simply be you. From Hervey Bay maternity shoots to Bundaberg family portraits and Childers newborn sessions, Kimberley focuses on telling each family’s story through authentic, heartfelt frames. Time, she says, has a way of racing past in a blur of cuddles, bedtime stories, and milestones—making these keepsakes all the more important.
Her Journey Behind the Lens
Born and raised in Queensland, Kimberley’s love of the outdoors is woven into everything she does. “I spend most of my time outside playing with my son and enjoying the warmth from the sun,” she says. Some of her fondest memories come from childhood beach trips with her family. “My Dad always took me into the deep end—I love you, Dad xx.”
Her photography journey began years ago with wildlife photography, a passion that sparked her eye for capturing fleeting, natural moments.
Along the way, she’s also pursued her passion for helping others—earning a Diploma in Counselling, a Certificate in Beauty Therapy, and becoming a qualified wildlife rescuer.
Kimberley’s philosophy can be summed up in her own words:
“My approach to family photography in Wide Bay Burnett is all about capturing the real, the raw, and the playful moments that make your family unique.
