The iconic Goomeri Pumpkin Festival is gearing up to squash expectations as it celebrates its 30th anniversary with the biggest-ever Great Australian Pumpkin Roll™, a chaotic, crowd-favourite event where pumpkins take centre stage (and occasionally take flight).

Set on the famously steep Policeman’s Hill, competitors, affectionately known as “Pumpkin Rollers” will race their chosen gourds downhill in pursuit of glory, bragging rights, and a slice of a prize pool that’s anything but pumpkin-spiced small.

Leading the pack, the Open Champion will roll away with a hefty $5,000 cash prize, along with a trophy, rosette, and a permanent spot on the festival’s Honour Roll. Junior rollers (12 and under) also have a chance to carve out their own legacy, with $500 up for grabs for the top young competitor.

And for those feeling extra lucky, the elusive “Lucky Spot” prize offers a whopping $10,000 to any pumpkin that lands — and stays — in the designated zone by day’s end. It’s a long shot, but as any seasoned roller knows, anything can happen once the pumpkins start tumbling.

With registrations open and excitement already building, this year’s festival promises to be a smashing celebration three decades in the making.
