The Pink House
The Pink House was a hive of activity on Thursday morning as 50 lucky guests gathered for a free morning tea celebrating Seniors Month. The idea came from dedicated volunteer Anne Williams, who, along with fellow volunteer Leanne, helped bring the event to life after months of planning.
Despite missing out on a grant, The Pink House team funded the celebration themselves, with Anne securing sponsorship from more than 28 local businesses—each guest leaving with a bag of goodies and a box of sweets. Between 10am and 11am, volunteers served an impressive 88 rounds of sandwiches, 46 coffees, 19 milkshakes, 7 teas, and 3 hot chocolates—all made on a small domestic coffee machine after the new one failed to arrive in time.
Guest speakers included Jessica Greenaway from Meals on Wheels and Tanya O’Shea Drabsch, who led a chair yoga demonstration. Founding members Muriel Patterson and Thelma Rickett joined the celebration, alongside entertainment from Rod Ladgrove.
Coordinator Jodi praised the team’s effort, saying it was the largest event in her ten years with The Pink House. “We’ve learnt a few things and promise the next one will be even better,” she said.
