Bundaberg, take a bow – your local dance champions have done it again!
The incredibly talented Shalom Catholic College Dance Teams twirled, leaped, and shimmied their way into the spotlight at the Dance Star Queensland State Finals, held over the weekend of June 7 on the vibrant Sunshine Coast.
In an electric display of passion, precision, and teamwork, all five Shalom teams delivered dazzling routines that wowed the judges and secured them a place at the National Championships in Hobart this August. That’s right – every single team is now headed to the national stage, where the best young dancers from QLD, NSW, VIC, and SA will battle it out for top honors in their sections.
Taking centre stage were the brilliantly named teams: ‘Glow’ (Years 7–9), ‘Sparks’ (Years 7–9), ‘Illuminate’ (Years 10–12), ‘Voltage’ (Years 10–12) and ‘Surge Hip Hop Crew’ (Years 9–12)
Each of the 60 students brought their own unique energy and style to the competition floor, showing off not only technical skill but creativity and fierce team spirit.
This isn’t just luck – it’s legacy. Shalom College is no stranger to this elite competition. After bringing home medals at last year’s Nationals, they’ve once again proven that dedication, discipline, and a whole lot of heart are what champions are made of.
To even qualify for Nationals is no easy feat. Dancers must first make it through a tough regional qualifier, then stand out among the best at the State Finals. It’s a journey that demands months of rehearsals, countless hours of training, and the kind of resilience that builds not just strong dancers – but strong people.
And Shalom’s results? Nothing short of spectacular. These students represented not just their school, but their entire region, with pride, grace, and a whole lot of sparkle.
As the countdown to Nationals begins, Bundaberg will be cheering loud and proud for our dance stars. So to every dancer, coach, and supporter behind the scenes – congratulations. You’ve not only made it to the national stage – you’ve inspired an entire community along the way.
Let’s go, Shalom – Hobart won’t know what hit it!
