The Fraser Coast community is being invited to take part in the annual Tree of Light tradition at Stockland Hervey Bay this Christmas season. The event, running throughout November and December, allows people to remember loved ones by placing a small ornament on the tree.
Last year, the initiative saw more than 1,000 tributes, filling two trees, highlighting its popularity and significance for locals. Each ornament placed on the Tree of Light is also preserved in a special scrapbook at Fraser Coast Hospice, ensuring memories are kept as part of the hospice’s ongoing legacy.
Volunteers will be stationed outside Kmart from 10am–2pm daily, until Wednesday 24 December. For a $5 donation, participants can take home a remembrance ornament while adding one to the community tree.
The Tree of Light serves as both a festive display and a meaningful symbol of remembrance and hope, supporting Fraser Coast Hospice’s mission to provide compassionate care to families during life’s most difficult moments.
All members of the community are welcome to participate, whether they are remembering someone cared for by the hospice or honouring any loved one.
