CHEAPER HOME BATTERY PROGRAM FOR CHILDERS

I am extremely pleased to report that at the end of June, the Cheaper Home Battery Program was passed through legislation and approved installers can now offer a rebate on batteries and the cost to install and commission.
The $2.3 Billion program has been funded by the Federal government to assist more people install batteries. Australian households, businesses and community organisations can access a rebate for around 30% on the upfront cost of installing solar systems from 5Kw to 100Kw.

The rebate is:
• For batteries connected to new or existing PV systems
• Available for grid connected and off grid systems
• Based on the usable capacity of the battery and the number of STC credits for the battery
• Reviewed annually and will gradually decrease until 2030
Like all government run programs, there are a few things to consider. For example, if you are off-grid and live within 1Km of powerlines, to be eligible, you will have to prove that it will cost more than $30,000 to connect your home to that power.
The batteries and the power system they are connected to need to be on the CEC (Clean Energy Council) approved items register. Only an approved and licensed person (who has the full battery license) can install and claim the rebate. It goes on…
Very rough calculations (and it depends on a lot of variables) but for your average 5Kw 48V battery you could be looking at a rebate of around $1,300 per battery (rough figures).

So, if you would like to find out more about your eligibility, whether that be installing a new system or adding batteries to an existing system, then now is the time to talk to your local installers.

Here at Childers Batteries, we are always happy to connect you with the local teams who are licensed for batteries.
A word of caution though, there is a lot of people considering this, so you may need to be patient getting quotes and install dates.

It sure makes sense for the government to invest in batteries when we all have so much solar. Exciting times for off grid and grid connected batteries.

Megsy Out.
