Bundaberg School Holidays
With school out and the holidays in full swing, parents across Bundaberg are asking the same thing: How do we keep the kids off their devices, out of trouble, and maybe even learning a thing or two—without blowing the budget or our sanity?
The good news? You don’t have to travel far or spend big to make memories. From bounce houses and BMX to glow-in-the-dark crafts and guided turtle walks, Bundaberg is packed with fun, affordable, and screen-free ways to keep the kids entertained these school holidays, and beyond.
1. Bounce Into Action at QLD Indoor Arena
Every weekend and every school holidays, QLD Indoor Arena Bundaberg transforms into an inflatable wonderland—and it’s home to Australia’s largest indoor inflatable playground! With two hours of bouncing, climbing, sliding, and sports activities, plus an affordable onsite menu for parents needing a break, it’s the perfect place to burn off energy (and some school-holiday snack calories).
2. Score Big Fun at Bundy Bowl
For a full day of fun under one roof, you can’t beat Bundy Bowl and Leisure Complex. With a retro arcade, Matrix interactive floor, escape rooms, karaoke, laser tag, dodgem cars, and tenpin bowling, there’s something for every kid (and adult). Don’t forget the family meal deal to keep things easy and affordable.
3. Skate Back in Time at Rink Revolution
On Friday, 12th July, head to Rink Revolution’s pop-up event for roller skating fun under disco lights, with music, games, and feel-good family vibes. Run by a not-for-profit group, it’s a nostalgic night for parents and a new kind of thrill for kids who love to move.
4. Chill Out at Reading Cinemas
Need a quiet moment? Reading Cinemas Bundaberg is your go-to for family flicks and air-conditioned peace. Grab a popcorn, pick a film, and settle in for a couple of hours while someone else keeps the kids entertained.
5. Get Creative at the Library (for Free!)
Bundaberg Region Libraries are bursting with FREE school holiday events. Whether it’s making glow-in-the-dark fireflies at Gin Gin Library, building cardboard submarines at Bundaberg Library, or relaxing with a family movie at Childers Library, these sessions are easy on the wallet and big on imagination.
6. An Outlet for Energy
Pack a picnic and spend the day at Alexandra Park, with its large playgrounds and shady spots perfect for relaxing or running wild. Right next door, the Alexandra Park Zoo offers free entry and educational zoo talks—a great mix of fun and learning.
For something with extra adrenaline, head to Gin Gin on Wednesday, 10th July for a BMX workshop hosted by the PCYC and Gin Gin Neighbourhood Centre. It’s the perfect outlet for active kids who love life on two wheels. (More info on the Bundaberg Regional Council website.)
7. Explore the Magic of Mon Repos Turtle Conservation Park
Just a short drive from Bundaberg, Mon Repos Turtle Conservation Park near Bargara is a world-class experience for families. Visit the Turtle Centre (no live turtles on display) and dive into the Turtle Tales Immersive Experience, filled with interactive displays and a powerful conservation-themed theatre presentation.
Join a Turtle Tracks and Tales Ranger-guided walk during the day to explore nesting sites, turtle tracks, and the incredible work happening to protect these ancient animals. And if you’re lucky enough to visit during turtle season, the Turtle Encounter night tours offer a magical chance to see live turtles on the beach—an unforgettable experience that’s unique to this part of the world.
8. Make Magic at Home (Without the Mess)
You don’t need to leave the house to make holiday memories. Low-key ideas like indoor campouts, treasure hunts, backyard obstacle courses, or DIY crafts can keep kids engaged for hours. Best of all? You can do it all in your pyjamas if you want to.
No Homework? No Problem.
These holidays, families have more than enough options to keep the kids busy, curious, and happy. Whether you’re out adventuring, creating, skating, bouncing—or just enjoying a movie together—there’s plenty to love about slowing down, switching off the devices, and reconnecting as a family.
