Childers Quilters held a Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Morning Tea, on THURSDAY October 30th which was a heartwarming success, bringing together community members in support of a vital cause.

Organised as part of the nationwide Pink Ribbon campaign, the event aimed to raise funds for breast cancer research, prevention, and patient support services. Guests arrived dressed in shades of pink, enjoying a morning filled with delicious treats, friendships, and a strong sense of solidarity. Tables were beautifully decorated with tablecloths, pink flowers, and balloons, creating a joyful atmosphere that celebrated hope and strength. A lovely word scrabble game was devised by Janelle, which turned into a lot of fun.

A shout out and huge thankyou to local businesses, Pink Elephant Patchwork and VanCooteens Howard Drapery who contributed generously towards our raffle prizes. We also had two beautiful quilts donated by Lisa Warne and Caroline Chevis which were graciously received by our two lucky winners, Marg C. and Denise S. Other Raffle winners were Angie H and Julie G.

The Morning Tea concluded with a De-Stash where so many wonderful items were donated and a lot of fun and laughter surrounded the tables groaning under the weight of tubs filled to the brim with ‘that special something you just don’t have’! The raffle and donation drives proved extremely successful, helping raise over $1200 for National Breast Cancer Foundation – an impressive amount! Event coordinator Beth Shilton expressed gratitude for the community’s enthusiasm and compassion, saying, “It’s inspiring to see everyone come together for such an important cause. Every cup of tea shared today helps make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.”

Events such as this reminds us all to reflect on those breast cancer survivors, fighters, and those lost to the disease, and the ongoing need for awareness, research, and hope.

Thank you again to our wonderful show of community spirit and compassion.
